Gender of Spinal Cord Injury Sufferers
82% of all spinal cord injury sufferers are male and correspondingly 18% are female.  This overwhelmingly large percentage for males has seen a slight decrease recently.

Ethnicity of Spinal Cord Injury Sufferers
Caucasians still are the majority of spinal cord injury sufferers with 59% of all reported cases since 1990, according to the Natural Spinal Cord Injury Database.  28% of those injured were African-American and 8% were Hispanic.  Interestingly, between the years of 1973 and 1978, 77.5% of persons injured, according to the database, were Caucasian and 13.5% were African-American.
